Service Description

Game On... As part of funding received from The Smith Family, we proudly offer workshops to people in the community who meet one of the following criteria: • families with low incomes • young-parent families • jobless families • sole-parent families • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families • families from culturally and linguistically diverse communities • families with a parent (or child) who has a disability • families experiencing problems with housing, domestic violence, substance abuse, mental health or child protection. And reside in one of the following suburbs: • Aitkenvale • Currajong • Gulliver • Garbutt • Heatley • Vincent • West End This project offers a bit of sporting fun. Great if you are looking to learn some new skills or refresh existing skills. The workshop runs for approximately 2.5 hours depending on the class. Each person will build their own timber basketball trash can to take home. You will learn how to use tools such as the drop saw, cordless drill, impact driver, jigsaw, square, F clamps, and a variety of skills such as measuring, marking, cutting and screwing to name a few. This project also looks at doing some line painting. Both adults and kids welcome. If booking for a child, a parent/guardian must stay for the duration. Enclosed shoes are a must.
